Bo Raahauge is one half of the driving force behind the popular Danish homeware brand Raawii. Founded in 2017 by Bo and business partner Nicholai Wiig-Hansen, the brand creates refined statement-making objects that are as beautiful as they are functional. The same could be said of Bo’s home in Hellerup, north of Copenhagen, which is a natural extension of the design studio’s creative philosophy—an unpretentious, effortlessly stylish aesthetic, with a focus on simplicity and minimalism.

This corner spot in the living room is filled with some of the couple’s favorite things. The Flag Halyard chair is by Hans Wegner, the wall of artworks have been collected from Danish auction house Bruun-Rasmussen and galleries in Paris. The rug is from Morocco and the Raku ceramic puffin ornament is from Nyons in France. The ceiling light is by Serge Mouille.

He moved into the property seven years ago with his wife, Anne, and their three children, Hector, Freja, Carla, and dog, Baloo. A former gardener’s house built in 1849 as part of the neighbouring Øregaard Estate—a country home turned public art museum—it underwent a radical transformation by renowned Danish architect Mogens Lassen in 1974. Today the traditional exterior of white windows, a tiled roof, and a brick façade treated with iron vitriol remains, and the couple’s updates to the inside of the house have been considerate and thoughtful. They’ve infused contemporary elements to make it their own, while embracing and honoring the home’s history. “We wanted to keep all of the amazing details that Lassen created in the house over 40 years ago, and we really like the sophisticated duality of the place,” Bo says.

A Finn Juhl cocktail bench takes pride of place, complemented by an injection of color from a Raawii Strøm vase and a patterned rug from Morocco, surrounded by vintage olive oil pots bought in France that make great vessels for houseplants and a sculpture by Svend Wiig Hansen.
