In my opinion, there’s something about a sleek ponytail that just screams, “I look good and I have my life together.” And, NGL, the four-strand ponytail on this week’s Braid Up is definitely no exception (seriously, it might be one of my favorite protective ponytail styles of all time). I mean with the long length and the beaded bangs, recreating this look will have you feeling like absolute money. 1. Keep it sleek. To create that slick, clean look for the ponytail, you’ll want to load up on products that really hold. Smooth on a styling cream or mousse that’s not too greasy but still keeps all of those flyaways in place.
2. Have fun with colors. Sure, most protective styles look cool with a variety of hair colors mixed together, but using the ombré effect with this look can actually be so gorgeous. Create this effect by using ombré extension hair on the main braid—and just make sure the base color closely matches your natural hair tone.
3. Get creative with accessories. One of the main strengths of this style is its room for pizzaz. I’m talking hair jewelry, y’all. Besides the fact that you can play around with cute beads on the bangs, you can also add some pretty rings throughout the larger braid.
