Consumers are becoming more knowledgeable about the ingredients in their products, as well as the environmental damage caused by non-recyclable packaging. As a result, some brands are beginning to refocus their efforts to address these specific issues. With limited control from official agencies, these changes have brought with them several of the new labels like clean, green, natural and many others, but there’s a lot of confusion about what they all indicate. Despite this, there will always be a demand for safe, effective, and ecologically friendly products. What we put on our skin has an impact on our health, from hormone balance to allergy responses.

Natural and green beauty

Of all the terms, ‘natural’ has the lowest limitations. Any manufacturer can put the word “natural” on their label. It’s most likely the weakest of the bunch. It is the most ambiguous, and products bearing this label are frequently created without known irritating and problematic chemicals like parabens and sulfates, or with botanicals or responsibly sourced components.
The term natural is usually used to refer to the purity of ingredients. When consumers search for natural products, they are most likely looking for a composition that has only natural ingredients and no synthetics. Natural products, rather than lab-made chemicals, usually contain substances found in nature (like DIY beauty products, you can produce at home).

Clean beauty

Clean beauty is a pleasant concept. The truth is that, with social media amplifying skin-care talks, ingredient phobia has contributed to the appeal of clean beauty.

Beauty brands use the phrase clean to indicate that their products don’t contain controversial or dangerous substances (natural or synthetic), such as parabens and talc.

The beginning of the clean beauty movement can be traced back to bigger health and wellness agendas. In the domain of beauty, we’re seeing a transition. The consumer is no longer solely concerned with how a product feels or appears on the skin. Ingredients are also being considered, as well as reading labels and analyzing how certain items affect their general health and the environment.
