The Morning Show has officially returned to Apple TV+ with season 2. But just because the show-within-a-show takes place in the wee hours of the morning doesn’t mean we actually have early access to news about its future. There’s no official news about The Morning Show getting another season just yet, but let us explain why it’s too soon to worry.

Production on the second season of the Apple TV+ series halted in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic and resumed later in the year with rewrites to reflect the current state of the world. As a result, season 2 of The Morning Show goes deep on both the pandemic’s impact on the media industry and the national reckoning with racism, particularly in the workplace. If the show is renewed for a third season, it would probably run just as smoothly; It seems like most productions have figured out how to keep going without compromising safety.

Ultimately, the A-List star power behind The Morning Show makes it a likely candidate for renewal. (You don’t cancel Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston without due warning!) They’ll likely end the show when the story reaches its natural conclusion. It doesn’t hurt that The Morning Show was nominated for two Golden Globes, three Screen Actor’s Guild Awards (including one win for Aniston), a Television Critics Award, and eight Primetime Emmy Awards—including one win for Billy Crudup, who also won a Critics’ Choice Award.

The only downside to The Morning Show’s famous faces, of course, is that such a star-studded cast might be difficult to schedule for a ten episode season with all the movie offers and red carpet obligations expected of them. That’s how Hollywood works, right?

It’s also worth noting that many Apple TV+ shows have been renewed in advance, especially in recent years. Ted Lasso, the streaming network’s other certified hit, was officially renewed for a third season before the second season even started filming. Dickinson was renewed for a third season before the second season premiered. Trying, the network’s British sitcom about a couple’s adoption journey, was also renewed for a third season before the second season hit the proverbial airwaves. So were For All Mankind, See, and Servant.

Still, it remains to be seen where The Morning Show ends up…but if we get word, you bet we’ll tell you right here.
