Now it is not just about applying makeup; it is at a whole new level. Aesthetic contouring is ruling social media platforms with its approach to make micro tweaks to your facial features to make it look more appealing. Even called baby botox with celebrities vouching for this trend, netizens are curious about this facial trend We decode more about this key beauty trend with renowned experts in depth.

“Aesthetic contouring is shaping the face with gentle tweaks to make it more aesthetically appealing. It may mean slimming the face with botox, or jawline enhancement with fillers, removing under eye circles, improving the symmetry of lips, increasing the length of the chin, removing a double chin, improving the profile, fixing the nose with fillers, and more. It can also mean thread lifting for tightening and contouring,” says celebrity skin and wellness expert Dr Kiran Sethi, MD at Isya Aesthetics.

This trend with the help of technology enhances your facial features

Every beauty trend on the block makes us all gaga and aesthetic contouring is another addition to the charts, which is eventually becoming the key trend for 2021. “There are both surgical and non-surgical options available to improve facial features. Basically, non-surgical options have low risk and a shorter downtime, which is why they have become a go-to choice for many. Non-surgical methods use ultrasound and radiofrequency treatments and fillers to create cheekbones, jawlines and enhance the chin. My favourite amongst the non-surgical is Ulthera and Exilis,” says award-winning skin and hair specialist Dr Geetika Mittal Gupta of Isaac Luxe.

There are two ways to go about this trend

This time it is about technology merging with beauty. This trend involves micro tweaks to your facial features with surgical and non-surgical methods. “Several factors determine the effects of aesthetic contouring, as it may vary from person to person. From the type of treatment and product used to its quantity, several such factors can make the results last longer or shorter. Choose after consulting your aesthetic doctor about this before getting the procedure done,” she adds.

Becoming a rage on the beauty charts, aesthetic contouring has turned into the key beauty trend that everyone is trying out. Thanks to the Kardashians, we were introduced to the art of contouring and now the art has notched higher with the help of technology for a more long-lasting appeal.

Aesthetic contouring has become a hit among celebrities

“It’s easy to do and the downtime is minimal when it comes to aesthetic contouring. Moreover, gentle tweaks are more appealing than drastic changes from plastic surgery,” says Dr Kiran. Initially a hit among the celebrities is now gradually becoming a rage amongst appearance-conscious public as well. “It is ruling social media as several aestheticians have vouched for this beauty trend. As Instagram filters are taking over and people are becoming comfortable with micro-tweaks, more people are going in for long-lasting, elegant and low-maintenance contouring options,” explains Dr Geetika.

“There is no or minimal downtime for non-surgical methods and one can easily resume their lives. However, even with the injectables, there’s a minimal chance of bruising and swelling so I don’t suggest doing it very close to a major event. Don’t go overboard and do everything to look like an unpleasant version of yourself, but maintain your looks in a very healthy way,” says Dr Geetika. Seconding the notion Dr Kiran says, “Have a goal in mind, and go slowly, don’t try to do all your tweaks in one session. For best results, build up slowly.”

With every buzzing trend comes its own pros and cons and while we all have our own notions about them, experts weigh in the details. “The side effects and downtime of aesthetic contouring are very minimal. To subside for the swelling, you may be advised to take some anti-inflammatory , and avoid any strenuous exercise for the next 48 hours,” explains Dr Geetika. While Dr Kiran states, “It is easy and does not consume much time. It simply enhances your features with little tweaks, and you look even better and more attractive.”
