Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg shared in a post on Instagram Friday that he tore his anterior cruciate ligament in his knee while sparring and completed a replacement surgery, foiling his plans to participate in a competitive mixed martial arts fight early next year.

Zuckerberg revealed the injury alongside a photo of him laying on a stretcher with his fist raised and his left leg fully bandaged and braced.

The billionaire tech executive, who once expressed interest in an MMA fight with Tesla CEO Elon Musk, thanked his doctors and eluded to competing again in MMA after he recovers from the ACL tear, which requires weeks of rehabilitative therapy and up to a year to heal.

The post was met with comments of support from prominent sports figures like Hall of Fame NFL cornerback Darrelle Revis and former UFC flyweight and bantamweight champion Henry Cejudo.

Forbes estimates Zuckerberg’s net worth at $111.6 billion, making him the seventh-wealthiest person in the world—six spots behind Musk’s estimated net worth of $230.9 billion.

Zuckerberg has publicly posted about his MMA training on multiple occasions, flexing his training sessions with UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski, former UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya and ONE Championship flyweight grappling champion Mikey Musumeci Jr. Zuckerberg’s transition to MMA seemingly began this year after winning two medals in his first jiu-jitsu tournament in May and later feuding with Musk over a potential UFC-style cage match between the two tech executives. After nearly two months of hype, insults and hesitation, Zuckerberg told Musk over text he didn’t “want to keep hyping something that will never happen.”
