We’re going to be very real: we are equal parts excited and nervous for the upcoming Gossip Girl reboot.
While we are, of course, highly into the idea of revisiting the Upper East Side with a much more inclusive cast, there is no denying that Blair Waldorf and Serena van der Woodsen left behind some very big Viviers and Louboutins to fill as far as the show’s fashion goes.
They did, after all, inspire a generation with their signature styles (do not pretend like you didn’t try to emulate Serena’s penchant for body-con and boho). From Queen B’s headbands to the Constance girls’ patterned tights under colourful trench coats and S’ artfully undone hair, we’d go so far as to say they even inspired the fashion of other TV shows (Emily In Paris copied Blair and you can’t tell us otherwise), further cementing their status as fictional fashion icons.
YOUR FIRST LOOK AT THE FASHION FROM THE ‘GOSSIP GIRL’ REBOOT
Having said all that, we’re not saying the Gossip Girl reboot, which will be set in 2021, should deliver the same looks (they would be wildly out of date, after all), nor do we want to compare the two—especially since it’s a whole new generation of Manhattan elite that’s taking over the Met steps.
