Apple’s iPhone 12 launch date is now official, which means the leaks were right. And now the most shocking part of this launch appears to have leaked.

Following reports that Apple would significantly increase iPhone 12 prices, prolific tipster Apple Rumors has revealed a full breakdown of prices for each model and they make for very good reading. Unless, that is, you are a rival smartphone maker:

1. iPhone 12 mini (5.4-inch) – 64GB ($649), 128GB ($699), 256GB ($799)

2. iPhone 12 (6.1-inch) – 64GB ($749), 128GB ($799), 256GB ($899)

3. iPhone 12 Pro (6.1-inch) – 128GB ($999), 256GB ($1099), 512GB ($1299)

4. iPhone 12 Pro Max (6.7-inch) – 128GB ($1099), 256GB ($1199), 512GB ($1399)

There are two big takeaways from this. First, the all-new iPhone 12 mini will cost $50 less at each price point than the iPhone 11, while the iPhone 12 will cost $50 more. Second, the iPhone 12 Pro models will cost $50 less than their predecessors for the top two capacities while their entry level storage capacity will be doubled.

This all adds up to remarkable value. Yes, these are still expensive phones but they will all add expensive 5G modems, which have caused rivals to drastically increase prices. For example, the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra and S20 Ultra start from $1,299 and $1,399 respectively. So, if correct, Apple’s new pricing is going to shakeup the smartphone industry at multiple price points.
