Beyoncé masterfully opened the Academy Awards with her performance of “Be Alive” in Compton, CA and her Grammy-winning daughter Blue Ivy Carter was part of the group of dancers with her. Eagle-eyed fans on Twitter spotted the 10-year-old dressed fabulously in lime green and sunglasses alongside her mom. Blue performing on the Oscars before even hitting her teenage years? Par for the course for Bey’s child.

Blue celebrated her 10th birthday in January. Blue’s grandmother and Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Lawson, shared a little about Blue to mark the occasion.

Lawson wrote on Instagram, “My beautiful Talented and super smart Grandaughter Blue Ivy turned 10 today! God it seemed like yesterday you came into the world running things. Blue is my little Capricorn Twin . I prayed for her to be born on my birthday but she did what she always does she came when she got good and ready 😂three days later but we still share the bond. She reminds me that “Grandma you are acting just like a Capricorn.” Blue gives the best advice like a grown person I sometimes forget that she is so young!!!😂!😂” Blue is one of those rare gifted people that can do everything well! God Blessed me the day you were born! My Sweet , Beautiful Baby Blue❤️❤️❤️🎂🎂💥Happy Birthday 🎂❤️🙏🏽”

Beyoncé also reflected to Harper’s Bazaar in September about how she’s teaching Blue and her younger sister, Rumi, about self-care. “During quarantine, I went from overindulgences to creating positive rituals drawing from past generations and putting my own spin on things,” Bey started. “I discovered CBD on my last tour, and I’ve experienced its benefits for soreness and inflammation. It helped with my restless nights and the agitation that comes from not being able to fall asleep. I found healing properties in honey that benefit me and my children. And now I’m building a hemp and a honey farm. I’ve even got hives on my roof! And I’m so happy that my daughters will have the example of those rituals from me. One of my most satisfying moments as a mom is when I found Blue one day soaking in the bath with her eyes closed, using blends I created and taking time for herself to decompress and be at peace. I have so much to share…and there’s more to come soon!”
