Investment bags are at the heart of Angelina Jolie’s wardrobe. Saint Laurent’s Icare tote, Celine’s clasp purse and Salvatore Ferragamo’s Studio bag are among her current favorites, and she recently added Dior’s new 95.22 top-handle to her collection. The actor was seen carrying a cream version of the bag in Paris (fitting given its heritage) which offset her black gold-buttoned coat dress and stilettos.
Unveiled at Dior’s fall 2022 ready-to-wear show, the 95.22 is a new interpretation of the maison’s iconic Lady Dior bag, famously a favorite of Princess Diana’s, who wore navy and black styles during the 1990s. (Originally called the Chouchou upon its release in 1995, it was renamed the Lady Dior the following year in honor of its most high-profile fan.)
Like the original, the 95.22—its name combines the Lady Dior launch year and 2022, the year of its reinterpretation—features textured macrocannage across the main body and handles punctuated with metal hardware and charms. The main point of difference between the two styles? The 95.22 has a subtly curved shape, in contrast to the earlier bag’s distinctive boxy structure.
Angelina shops with longevity in mind—she previously told Vogue that she “invests in quality pieces, and then just wears them to death”. Prepare to see a lot more of her new Dior bag.
