October Book Gallery
From crime novels to celebrity memoirs, EW highlights 20 must-read books for October.
Is This Anything? by Jerry Seinfeld
The creator of Seinfeld publishes his first book in 25 years — through the sharing of his many, many notebooks chock full of notes for jokes and standup bits, he lets the world in on his process, hoping to give a leg up to aspiring stars. (Oct. 6)
Leave the World Behind by Rumaan Alam
A middle-class white family splurges on a remote, Hamptons-adjacent Airbnb; the home’s wealthy Black owners show up at the door in the middle of the night hoping for a place to crash. There’s enough there to write an entire novel, but the intrigue increases by the hour as the initial reason the owners sought them out (a city-wide blackout back in New York) turns into a potentially world-ending event. (Oct. 6)
Magic Lessons by Alice Hoffman
The author delivers yet another saga in the Practical Magic universe — this time she goes back all the way to the 1600s to trace the origins of the Owens family and the curse that has haunted them for generations. (Oct. 6)
