It’s the Oscars, baby! Hollywood’s biggest night is back in its full glory after two years of pandemic cancellations and adjustments. And we are here to talk about the Queen of the Oscars, Lady Gaga. She’s there tonight as a presenter, even though she’s not technically a nominee herself. But rather than hitting the Oscars red carpet, she decided to debut her (first) look of the night at Elton John’s Academy Awards viewing party. She will be at the Oscars eventually, but apparently she decided their pregame was better!
Please take a moment to appreciate her ~lewk~ as she poses with her longtime pal David Furnish (who also happens to be Elton’s hubby):
So chic! So ethereal!
Lady Gaga obviously has a very daring fashion sense, but she tends to pick something a little more muted (but still fabulous, obviously) for the Oscars. When she won in 2019 for her work in A Star Is Born, she wore a black Alexander McQueen dress that she accessorized with archival Tiffany and Co. Jewelry. It was…perfect.
She changed her outfit later in the evening when she went to perform “Shallow” with Bradley Cooper during the ceremony. It’s another black dress but with a halter top and an open back. But of course, the diamond was still there.
And that’s what she was wearing when she won her Oscar for Best Original Song. “Shallow” was nominated, obviously.
Here are two of the outfits she wore to previous Oscars ceremonies, so you can get a ~ holistic~ view of her Oscars style. Here she was in 2016, giving real Old Hollywood glamour.
And here she is in 2015. I mean… those gloves!
Lady Gaga isn’t scheduled to perform a musical number tonight, although if she decided to surprise everyone and perform “Shallow” again, we wouldn’t be mad about it!
