We already know a lot about Apple’s iPhone 12 range, including its new design and (potentially) game-changing new upgrades. But now Apple has confirmed no less than nine new iPhone 12 models.
Spotted by (the ever-alert) MySmartPrice, Apple has publicly filed the official model numbers for the iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Max, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max in the Eurasian database, an official regulatory body. The model numbers are: A2176, A2172, A2341, A2342, A2399, A2403, A2407, A2408, and A2411 and they identify four clear product lines and one mystery model.
06/13 Update: with the iPhone 12 line-up now official, Apple is ready to ramp up production. Citing industry sources, popular Chinese newspaper DigiTimes (paywall) reports that Apple has finalized the designs and features of the new iPhones with mass production starting next month. This should theoretically put Apple on schedule to release all its iPhone 12 models in September, as usual. That said, there remains some conflict about this with acclaimed industry insiders Ming-Chi Kuo and John Prosser both saying that the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max could be delayed into October or November. Either way, given the unprecedented disruption this year, the fact Apple remains broadly on schedule when producing the biggest selling smartphones on the planet is quite some achievement. And they certainly look to be worth the wait.
